Look Before You Leap Completing Story for Class 6, 7, 8
Once, a thirsty fox happened to fall into a well. He tried his best to get out of it, but in vain. After a while, a goat came there for a drink. As the goat peeped in, he saw the fox inside the well. “What are you doing there at the bottom of the well?” asked the goat.
The cunning fox was glad to see the goat. He knew the goat to be easy-going and foolish. With ready wit, he said, “Dear friend, the water of the well is very sweet. I have never drunk this type of water in my life. The water is so sweet that I don’t wish to get out of this well.”
The foolish goat believed it completely. He said, “Then will I jump into it?” “Of course, I cordially invite you to come here and drink the sweet water.”The innocent goat instantly jumped into it. As soon as the goat jumped into it, the cunning fox climbed upon its back and then jumped out of the well.
Thus, the cunning, selfish fox managed to overcome the critical situation, leaving the foolish, innocent goat in imminent danger.

Once in the summer, a fox was very thirsty. He looked about for water all day to drink. At last, he came to a well. The well was very deep. He tried to get water. He tumbled in.
There was a little water. So he was not drowned. He drank all he could. Then he tried to get out. But he could not. A goat came to the well to drink water. He saw the fox and said, “I could not get any water. Is there water to drink?”
The cunning fox was glad to see the goat and hit upon a plan to rescue himself from the well. He instantly answered, “There is enough water to drink.”
He invited the goat and said, “My friend, this well is famous for its sweet water. I have jumped in, and I am drinking to my heart’s content. If you want to have a taste of it yourself, please jump into it.”
Without a second thought, the foolish goat jumped into the well. The fox at once leaped on the back of the goat, then onto his long horn, and got out of the well. Before leaving the place, he looked into the well and said, “Foolish goat, look before you leap.”
