Air is an important element of our environment. We cannot live without air. Fresh air is necessary for us. But polluted air is harmful. When it is polluted, it is called air pollution. Air is being polluted in different ways. It is mainly polluted by smoke. Man makes fires, and fires create smoke. He makes fire to cook food, to make bricks, to melt pitch for road construction, and to burn wood for different purposes. Railway engines, power houses, mills and factories, vehicles, brick fields, etc, also produce a lot of smoke. This smoke pollutes the air. By taking in polluted air, we become sick. Polluted air causes many diseases like bronchitis, asthma, other respiratory troubles, etc. Sometimes air pollution leads to death. It is high time to control air pollution. In this regard, we should remember that ‘prevention is better than cure’. We should control the sources of smoke. We should plant more trees and more. If we cut one tree, we should plant two trees. Mills and factories, and brick fields should be set up in a planned way. Old vehicles should not be allowed to ply on the roads. Moreover, vehicles may use CNG gas. In addition, public awareness should be raised all over the country. Mass media can play an important role in making people aware of the dangers of air pollution. All should come forward and take united efforts to stop air pollution.

Air Pollution Paragraph for HSC
Air pollution threatens the health of humans and other living beings on our planet. It creates smog and acid rain, causes cancer and respiratory diseases, affects the ozone layer atmosphere and contributes to global warming. However, there are various reasons for air pollution. Air pollution is caused when air in the atmosphere is filled with particulate matter. The largest source of air pollution in cities is vehicles’ exhaust fumes, carbon monoxide, and another factor is a poisonous, odourless, colourless gas that is formed when fossil fuels such as coal, petroleum, and natural gas are burnt. The machinery, such as air conditioners, electric fans, which we use without changing their filters, is also responsible for air pollution. The polluted smoke produced from factories, automobiles, and any industrial or manufacturing plants also causes air pollution. Another source of air pollution is dust and dirt. Other sources of polluted air are volcanoes, dust storms, and forest fires. The effects of air pollution are very dangerous indeed. Air pollution irritates the throat, nose, lungs, and eyes. It causes breathing problems and aggravates existing health conditions, and causes diseases such as emphysema and asthma. Contaminated air reduces the body’s defenses and decreases the body’s capacity to fight other infections in the respiratory system. Moreover, air pollution is mainly responsible for the greenhouse effect and climate change. Owing to climate change, we are often affected by various natural disasters. So, necessary steps should be taken immediately to stop air pollution and to save humanity from this harmful thing in the environment.
