During marriage, some greedy people claim much wealth or money from the guardians of the brides. The poor and illiterate girls become the victims of this evil system. There are some reasons behind it. Greed for money is the main reason. The other reasons are illiteracy, poverty, the Hindu religion, unconsciousness, unemployment, etc.
This system affects the whole society. It disturbs social peace and happiness. Because of dowry, many married women commit suicide. Many are divorced by their husbands. Many women are tortured to death. This evil system must be uprooted at any cost. Our greedy nature should be changed. Girls should be properly educated and employed. Women should be made conscious of their rights and duties. Exemplary punishment should be given to the dowry takers. A social movement should be raised against dowry.
