Once there lived a very clever fox in a jungle. One day, while walking through the jungle, he fell into a trap and lost his tail.

Without a tail, he looked very strange, and he felt ashamed. He also felt very unhappy and sad.

But the fox was clever and took shelter in a cave for a few days. Then he came out of the cave and called all the foxes of the forest to a meeting.

He said, “Friends! God has given us our tails, but they are a useless burden to us.

So, I have cut off my tail, and I hope all of you will follow me.” An old fox knew about the incident. He revealed this fact in the meeting. Then and there, the tailless fox ran away into the forest.

One day, a fox fell into a trap. He struggled hard to get free and managed to be free, but lost his tail. Without the tail, the fox looked strange. He felt sad and ashamed.

He thought and thought and hit upon a plan. He called a meeting of all the foxes in the jungle.

When all the foxes came to the meeting, the fox without fail felt pleased and said, “I’ve failed to make a great discovery. What use are the tails? No use at all. Without my tail, I feel so free, light, and sporty. I can run faster than ever before.

So cut off your tails as I’ve done.” The foxes listened to him with attention, and many of them called his suggestion a good one. As a result, most of the foxes said, “We’ll cut our tails off without any delay.”

At this moment, a wise fox said, “Listen to me, please. Don’t accept his suggestion. That fox fell into a trap and lost its tail. Now he looks funny.

So he wants us all to look like him. Don’t follow his suggestion.” His trick being found out, he ran away. Thus, the wise fox frustrated the plan of the deceitful fox.

He looked strange without his tail, and so he thought and hit upon a plan. He invited all the foxes living in the jungle to a meeting.

When all the foxes came to the meeting to hear him, he told them he had made a great discovery. He added that they did not need a tail because it looked ugly.

He said,” I’ve cut off my tail. Without my tail, I feel so free. I can run faster than ever before.” Then he asked all the other foxes to cut off their tails, but the listeners were very confused.

However, most of the foxes decided to follow the fox. An old and wise fox understood the clever fox’s trick and told the other foxes that the clever fox had not cut off his trail, but had lost his tail while falling into a trap.

The other foxes also could understand the trick of the fox without a tail. Finding no other way, the clever fox ran away.
