Dengue Fever paragraph – 150 words

Dengue fever is a mosquito-borne tropical disease caused by the dengue virus. This virus spreads among people through the bite of an infected Aedes mosquito. Symptoms typically begin three to fourteen days after infection. These may include a high fever, severe headache, vomiting, muscle and joint pains, and a characteristic skin rash. In a small portion of cases, the disease develops into a severe hemorrhagic dengue fever. This results in bleeding and low levels of blood platelets.

There are no specific antibiotics to treat dengue fever. Antiviral medications are also not indicated for dengue fever. Treatment of acute dengue is supportive care. Paracetamol is recommended for fever reduction and pain relief. Taking sufficient rest is also important. For more severe cases, blood transfusion may be required. Aedes mosquitoes typically lay eggs near standing water in containers that hold water, like buckets, bowls, animal dishes, flower pots, and vases.

So the best method of preventing dengue includes destroying mosquito habitat and limiting exposure to bites. This may be done by throwing off standing water and wearing thick clothes that cover much of the body. Most importantly, everyone’s awareness against dengue can halt the outbreak of this disease.

Dengue Fever paragraph – 200 words

Dengue is a serious viral fever caused by a kind of mosquito. An African female mosquito named Aedes aegypti carries the germ of this disease and spreads it rapidly among people. It lays eggs in stagnant water at any place. There are two types of dengue fever: Classical and Hemorrhagic. Dengue virus has four serotypes. They are DEN-1, DEN-2, DEN-3 and DEN-4. Any of them can cause dengue fever. But DEN-2 and DEN-3 are too dangerous. These two stereotypes are responsible for the most serious Hemorrhagic dengue fever.

Classical dengue fever is not as serious as Hemorrhagic dengue fever. The symptoms of classical dengue fever are high fever, vomiting, stomach pain, excessive headache, pain in joints of bones, and backside of the eyes. Sometimes, bone pain becomes so acute that it seems to be breaking of the bone. So, it is called ‘Breakbone fever’. Anyone recovers from it within 3/4 days. Sometimes, the patient feels weak and averse. But Hemorrhagic dengue fever often causes the death of patients. The symptoms of classical dengue fever become extreme in this case. Bleeding continues with these symptoms.

Especially bleeding comes from the gums and nose. Congealed blood and reddish circles are seen under the skin. It causes blood-vomit. Congealed blood in the white portion of the eyes is found. Black blood goes with stool. Internal blood can afflict the brain and heart. It causes ‘hypovolemic shock’, which may cause patients’ death. However, dengue fever is not an infectious disease. Actually, prevention is better than cure is perfect in dengue fever. The only way is to control and destroy the Aedes mosquito. To do so, we should keep our surroundings neat and clean and free from stagnant water.
