Introduction: A Hobby is an interesting occupation pursued for recreation. It is a short pastime that one pursues to take great delight in. It is necessary for mental rest and recreation.

Different kinds of hobbies: Because of having different tastes, different people have various hobbies. There are a variety of hobbies like gardening, beekeeping, kite flying, painting, singing, walking, stamp collecting, and whatnot.

My hobby: Gardening is my favourite hobby. My garden is in front of my reading room. The main flowers of my garden are rose, champa, shefali, beli, karabi, kamini, sunflower, gandharaj, etc. I also grow vegetables like cauliflowers, cabbage, danta, etc., in the corner of my garden.

Why I like it: Among various types of hobbies, I like gardening for different reasons. It gives me immense pleasure in my leisure. It enriches the beauty of our house and charms all around us. By cherishing my hobby, I can take physical exercise regularly. I can plant some vegetables around my flower garden. It helps our family get fresh vegetables. This is why I like this hobby most.

Time of work in the garden and nature of work: I generally work in my garden in the morning and the afternoon. Sometimes I prepare the soil with a spade, and at other times I sprinkle water to keep the soil moist. I feel sound when I make the soil loose and weed out the grasses. At times, I do the pruning and trimming of the twigs very nicely.

Usefulness: My garden is a source of joy. My joy knows no bounds at the sight of the plants in full blossom. It also adds income to our family.

Introduction: A Hobby is nothing but an alternative mental occupation. Winston Churchill defines it as an alternative mental interest. It gives us joy and pleasure, but we do not pay for it. A man cannot enjoy his leisure without a hobby. Without a hobby, life becomes dull and monotonous.

Different tastes: Different people have different tastes and choices. Some choose gardening, some choose catching fish, some like collecting stamps, some like painting, and so on. Whatever the hobby may be, it has its values. I am a student of class XII. I also have a hobby, and it is gardening.

My opinion: Some of my friends say to me, It is a waste of time. I do not think so. At first, I was a thinner boy and I fell sick very often. But now I am a healthy boy.

My garden: My garden is in front of my house. I have put a fence around it so that cattle or naughty children cannot harm the plants and flowers. I have various kinds of flower-plants in my garden, such as the rose, the beli, the sheuli, the dahlia, etc. Whenever I get time, I go to my garden and work there. I weed out the grass, I water the plants, I sow seeds of new flowers. When the tender flower plants blossom forth, I become overjoyed. On holidays, I work longer in my garden. Sometimes my friends, neighbors, and relatives visit my garden. They are very glad to see my garden and they appreciate my work very much.

Why I like it: I am very glad to choose this hobby because it has improved my body and mind. It is helpful to me in various ways. First of all, it makes me forget my worries and anxieties. It relieves me from my routine-bound work.
