A rickshaw puller is a poor day laborer. He earns his livelihood by pulling the rickshaw. He carries passengers and goods from one place to another on payment. He hires a rickshaw from the owner daily. Few pull their rickshaws.

A rickshaw puller works from dawn to dusk and even to the late hours of night. He has to pull the rickshaw in the sun and the rain. He is generally gentle by nature. But sometimes, he demands. high fare. He earns a very meager amount, not more than 500 taka a day.

With this little income, he has to support his family with great hardship. He feels tired but cannot take a rest. He generally lives in a slum. He has to live from hand to mouth as he earns too little to support his family. Sometimes, his family passes the day with little food. He leads a hard and miserable life.

Generally, he lives in a slum. Though he works hard up to late night, he leads a poor life. He does not consider the condition of the weather. He works hard despite foul weather.

Sometimes there arises a dispute between him and the passenger for the fare. If he falls sick, his family members fall in distress. All of them have to starve. He cannot enjoy peace and happiness. He also suffers from an inferiority complex. His children cannot hope for a bright future.

Sometimes, passengers behave roughly with him. But he does not have sufficient strength to tackle it. Some rickshaw pullers try to cheat the passengers. He takes a rest here and there or sits on his rickshaw.

On the whole, his life is full of suffering. To support his family, he has to drive the rickshaw despite his illness. He leads a very poor and subhuman life.

Usually, a rickshaw puller has no rickshaw of his own. He works hard from morning till the late hours of night. He works in all weather good and bad. He carries goods and passengers from one place to another.

Sometimes he feels tired but cannot take a rest. He is generally gentle by nature. But sometimes he demands a high rate. But his income is poor. He has to live from hand to mouth. He maintains his family through much hardship.

Sometimes he has to tolerate bad comments from the rickshaw passengers. He finds pleasure when he earns enough to support his family. Sometimes a rickshaw puller becomes sick. He cannot drive his rickshaw.

So he cannot earn money and his family starves. His service is very important in our society. So we should behave well with him. All possible facilities should be given to him so that he can lead a decent life.

The man who earns his livelihood by driving a rickshaw is called a rickshaw puller. He is, so to speak, a poor day laborer. He can hardly afford to live in a good house. So, he lives in the slum to minimize his living costs. He carries passengers and goods from one place to another on payment. Most of the rickshaw pullers are very poor. There are a few who pull their rickshaws.

Generally, he hires a rickshaw from a Mohajan on a daily payment basis. At the time of returning the rickshaw, he has to deposit the daily rent. A rickshaw puller does very laborious work. He carries one or two passengers from one place to another. There is no fixed rate for rickshaw fare. It is mutually settled after bargaining. He works in the hot sun and torrential rain.

Most of the rickshaw pullers do not know the traffic rules. Often a rickshaw puller falls victim to accidents, he may lose his life as well. Very often rickshaw pullers are not well paid by the passengers. Some passengers look down upon them over silly matters. This is not desirable at all. Because they are human beings. Instead, we should be kind to them.

A rickshaw puller pulls a rickshaw to take passengers to their destinations. He is in fact, one kind of day laborer. In reality, finding no other means, a man pulls a rickshaw to earn his livelihood. He usually lives in a slum with his family in a very unhygienic condition. Most often a rickshaw puller does not have his rickshaw. He hires a rickshaw from a rickshaw owner daily.

Pulling a rickshaw is no doubt, a toilsome work. Even he has to pull a rickshaw in the rain or sun. Because, if he stops pulling rickshaws someday, he along with his family members has to starve. Moreover, sometimes he receives misbehavior from the passengers. But he doesn’t do any misconduct with them because it provides his living.

Usually, a rickshaw puller earns Tk. 400 to 500 a day from which he has to pay the rent of the rickshaw to the rickshaw owner. If he earns too little for some reason or other, he doesn’t have anything left after paying the rent of the rickshaw. If his rickshaw breaks down for having an accident on the road, his miseries beggar description. We should behave with him nicely. On the whole, a rickshaw puller leads his daily life in great hardship.
