Jaflong, Sylhet.
My dear Arafat,
How are you? I have just received your letter. I am glad to know that your school will be closed for the summer vacation from the 21st instant.
I invite you to spend your summer vacation with us at our house in Kamalpur. It is a historical place. The natural scenery of our village is very nice. A small river flows through it. We will catch fish in the river. We will walk by the riverside in the morning and in the afternoon.
I am waiting for your happy arrival. No more today. Convey my regards to your parents. Good-bye.
Your loving friend,
Habib.

Dear Rina,
I received you yesterday. In it, you wanted to know how I spent my last summer vacation. Here I am telling you about the matter.
I went to my village to spend the vacation. You know my village is near the river Surma. During my stay at the village, I went to the river Surma in a boat. We caught fish in the river. We dived into the river and swam as long as we could. We enjoyed the natural scene of the river. We also walked in the midst of the green hills and paddy fields almost every day. We played in the afternoon. We drank pure milk, ate fresh fruits, green vegetables, and various fish. Again, we enjoyed the village fair. Then I visited my relatives. All of them were happy to see me. Really, I enjoyed the vacation to my heart’s content.
Yours ever,
Rupam

Dear Kazal/Kazli,
How are you? How are you going to spend this summer holiday?
We have a big plan! With some of my friends, we will visit a village. This visit will not be just a simple one, but will have a purpose. The purpose is to raise awareness among villagers about environmental pollution.
The village is in the middle of a forest, but the saddest thing is that because of the increasing population, the villagers are cutting down the trees. They are making more space for houses and farming. You will be surprised to hear that in this way, they have already destroyed half of the forest.
The number of animals living in the forest is also decreasing day by day. I have heard that rabbits and wild rats are rarely found nowadays. I can say the whole ecosystem is becoming imbalanced.
I hope this visit will be very successful.
All the best,
Jamil/Jamila

My dear Saikat,
Thank you for your letter. In your last letter, you asked me to inform you about how I spent the last summer vacation in my village. Let me give you a brief description of the vacation. You know my village, Kafilatali, is in the Lakshmipur district. It’s a small but picturesquely beautiful village. I was born here. It’s my second mother, as its atmosphere, food, and field raised me. I never forget it wherever I go, even if I go to the farthest end of the world, my heart will ever throb with the images of my village. So, in all vacations I rush to my village.
Last summer, too, I rushed to my village as I always do. I felt like a child; I swam in the pond, climbed mango trees, tasted the green mangoes with salt and green chilly. I sat on the favourite spot of my childhood at the south end of our house, and I enjoyed the dancing jute and paddy plants in the southern breeze. In my husky voice, I hummed and sang alone, feeling like a Wordsworth reborn. Really, it was enjoyable although I was alone.
I missed you every moment. If you were with me, what a heavenly pleasure it would have been. No more today. With best wishes.
Yours ever,
Tulu
