Nowadays, a road accident is one of the common occurrences in our country. Last week I witnessed a road accident at Shahbagh, Dhaka, at about 11:00 am. At that time, I was going to BIRDEM Hospital to look after my ailing friend. So, I witnessed the accident standing very close to the spot. A long row of cars, taxis, tempos, buses, autorickshaws, rickshaws, etc., was plying towards the north, and a similar row of them was plying towards the south.
A bus was coming up at top speed from the south, and I waited till it ran off past me. Just at that very moment, a rickshaw ahead of me was hit by the bus, and the rickshaw puller was thrown down under its wheels. All this happened in the twinkling of an eye. I instantly rushed to the spot, managed an ambulance, and took the wounded rickshaw puller with the help of some of the other people to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
The medical officer on duty declared the rickshaw puller to be dead. The wife and son of the rickshaw puller, in the meantime, also rushed to the hospital. The hospital authority conducted a post-mortem and handed over the dead body to them. The accident was so shocking to me. It put a permanent shock in my mind. I could hardly efface the face of the poor rickshaw puller from my memory. It is a great, harrowing experience in my life.

Road accidents are very common in our country. It is very dangerous. It happens accidentally in the street. Last Monday, a terrible accident took place before my eyes. It was between two buses. Then I went to college. When I reached Trishal Bus Stand, I saw the accident, which shocked me very much. The accident happened on the Dhaka Mymensingh Highway at Trishal. Two buses collided, and the accident occurred in the twinkling of an eye. A bus was running to Mymensingh. Another bus was coming from the opposite direction. The first bus driver lost control and collided with the other bus. The first bus fell into the roadside ditch. It was badly damaged. Five men died on the spot. Ten people were badly injured. Many locals rushed to the spot and took the injured to the local hospital. The police came to the spot and filed a case. Indeed, it was a terrible accident. It took place because of careless drinking. I shall never forget the terrible experience of the accident.
