Unity is Strength Story for class 5,6

Once there was an old farmer who had three sons. Though they were grown-up, they had no good relationship with one another. They were dishonest and always quarreled with one another. This made the farmer very anxious. So, he wanted to teach his sons. At last, he hit upon a plan. He called all his sons and asked them to bring a bundle of sticks.

Accordingly, they brought a bundle of sticks. Then the farmer asked them to break it. The three sons tried one after another. But none could break it. Then their father asked them to untie the bundle and told each of his sons to take one stick. Each of the boys took one stick. Their father asked them to break the sticks. Now they broke them easily.

Then the farmer told his sons, “If you live together, nobody can harm you and if you are separate, anybody will break you like the single broken sticks.”

Once there was an old farmer in a village. He had four sons. They were illiterate. They used to quarrel among themselves. This made the farmer very anxious. He wanted to teach them a lesson.

So, one day he asked his sons to bring some sticks and a piece of rope. He asked his eldest son to bind the four sticks together. Then he ordered him to break the bundle. His eldest son tried but could not. He told all of his sons to break the bundle. They tried their best one by one but in vain.

Then the old man again asked the eldest son to untie the bundle. The old man gave everyone a stick to break. At that time each of the sons broke the stick very easily.

Now the old man raised his head and said. “My dear sons, remember that unity is strength. If you are united like a bundle of sticks, nobody will be able to harm you. If you quarrel and remain separate, you will lose strength and anybody can harm you”. Now the sons could understand the importance of unity and promised not to quarrel among themselves anymore.

There was an old farmer. He had four sons. They were all grown up. But they had no good relationship with one another. They were disobedient and always quarreled among themselves. The old farmer was very sad at heart. He thought that their future was dark.

The farmer became very old. He thought he might die at any moment. He would not live long. What would his sons do after his death? If they quarreled with one another, they would spoil his property and be poor. He also thought of their future and at last, he hit upon a plan.

So, one day he ordered his sons to bring a bundle of sticks. The sons did so. He then ordered his eldest son to break the bundle. He tried again and again but failed. The second and the third sons did the same thing but in vain.

The old man then ordered them to untie the bundle. They untied it accordingly. He told them to break the sticks one by one. This time they could easily break the sticks.

Now the old man said to his sons, “My dear sons, you see that you could not break the bundle. But when the bundle is untied, you could easily break it. So, remain united, and then none will be able to do any harm to you.”

Once upon a time, a farmer lived in a village. He had three young sons. They always quarreled with one another. At this, the farmer was not happy. The farmer requested them again and again not to quarrel but they did not give ears to his words. The farmer grew old. He hit upon a plan so that they could stop quarreling and live in peace.

One day, he called his sons. When they came to him, he ordered them to bring a bundle of sticks. Then, he gave the bundle of sticks to his eldest son to break. He tried hard and soul but could not break the bundle of sticks.

Then, he called his other sons one by one. All of them tried but none could break it. Then the old farmer untied the bundle and ordered each of his sons to break the sticks one by one. The sons broke that all easily.

After their breaking, the old man smiled and said to his sons, “Dear sons, you have broken the sticks one by one but you could not break the bundle. You should learn a lesson from this. If you quarrel with one another, your enemies will defeat you easily.

But, if you live together, none will be able to do any harm to you. So, you should not quarrel with one another”. Then, his sons understood the lesson and promised not to quarrel again.

Moral of the story: Unity is Strength
